tlr 6 glock 43

Tlr 6 Glock 43 - Concealed carry guns are great for many reasons. However, they are often limited in their ability to add lights or lasers. There are some so-so options, but the Glock 43 TLR-6 keeps your small pistol slimmer while still giving you the benefits of a gun-mounted light and laser.

The Streamlight TLR-6 is a simple design but rather modular to produce for Streamlight. The light/laser unit is a fixed version. All Streamlight has to do is design the clamshell that wraps around the holster for different pistols.

Since the TLR-6 wraps around the trigger guard, they are model specific. It's just that the Glock 42 and 43 have the same gauge trigger guard so it works for either gun. And I suspect it will work for the Glock 48 and other similar single stack variants of 9mm Glocks.

The TLR-6 is powered by two CR-1/3N lithium batteries with a runtime of 1 hour. Runtime isn't great, but that's for a CCW pistol. How often do you actually use light and lasers? Of course, practicing with this helps, but you should know that with lights and lasers of this size, there is one thing that comes in the way, and in this case, it's run time. Streamlight sells batteries for the TLR-6, available in two-packs online for about $5 or less. That's not a terrible price. I thought I would prefer a USB rechargeable solution, but there is always the fear that the battery will eventually die. Additionally, most USB rechargeable batteries do not have removable batteries. So it's a small sacrifice to have to replace the CR-1/3N lithium batteries every hour of accumulated use.

You can see that the Glock 43 TLR-6 is pretty slim. It is narrower than the slide. Perfect for concealed carry.

I would have preferred to place the laser above the light for two reasons. First, the laser is closer to the barrel, reducing downhole height issues. Second, the light's lens is further from the barrel, which reduces muzzle flash.

The TLR-6 housing features ambidextrous activation buttons that allow you to use both hands and still turn the light on. Just turn forward with your index finger to press the side button. Pressing both buttons at the same time changes the setting. You can have laser, light or laser and light at the same time.

Streamlight Tlr 6 Glock 43/42 Trigger Guard Mount 100 Lumen

The Streamlight website states that the beam distance is 89 meters. I thought that was not entirely true. On paper this may be based on Lux, but these are not actual results. I found the Glock 43 TLR-6 light to be the best for USPSA distances - 20 yards or closer.

At only 100 lumens, this light won't burn your retinas, but that's not what it's designed for. Considering the practical distance that this light offers, it serves more to identify your target. As a former guy behind the gun counter, I have always advocated that customers fire their pistols. Night vision goggles are good, but they are not as important as seeing and identifying your target.

TLR-6 is tiny. It weighs only 1.2 ounces. It comes in either black or FDE as the Glock 43 comes in those colors.

Due to the design of the Glock 43 TLR-6, I do not recommend removing it unless you really need to. The case will not hold zero if you remove it and put the TLR-6 back on the trigger guard of the Glock 43. A nice design touch is the three bolts that wrap the case around the trigger guard and use the same hex key needed to adjust windage and elevation. I don't like laser designs that use different sized tools.

The TLR-6 is quite affordable with a retail price of under $130. The light won't actually blind your target, but it will help you identify your target. Lasers on handguns may seem like an unnecessary accessory, but they have their uses. You can aim your pistol without being behind the target if your laser is properly zeroed. In some cases I found it quicker to aim the laser than a red dot.

If you have a Glock 43 or 42 I would recommend getting a TLR-6 to improve your low light shooting ability. Streamlight makes the TLR-6 for a variety of small handguns. Check the compatibility list on their website to see if your pistol can use the TLR-6. For more information on the TLR-6, visit the Streamlight website.
